First — I’m all about flow! Walking, writing, yoga , gardening— egads! sometimes cleaning — those are my flow inducers.

Second! — You have given me opportunity to discuss a topic that I’ve thought much about — violent video games. Luckily my son did not show much interest beyond playing rarely at friend’s houses.

I say luckily because I probably would not have allowed him to own them if he’d wanted. (One less mother/son battle to fight.) I am aware boys/young men (more so than girls) spend countless hours playing violence based video games. My gut reaction is — this is bad!! It must work on their brains somehow — desensitizing and making violence and killing seem both acceptable and “not real”.

To say that out loud makes me sound like a curmudgeon. Such games are so incredibly popular with young men. I know kids used to play cops/robbers IRL, but it was so much less graphic.

Having played the video versions — and gone beyond, do you have any insights you’d like to share?
