Please Stay Tuned
While I Break for Station Identification

Marie was a little bit country. Donny was a little bit rock n’ roll.
Am I dating myself here?
Marie Osmond has been a singer, actress, radio show host, TV show host, writer, doll/craft maker, philanthropist, and Nutrisystem success story.
Donny Osmond has been a teen idol (be still my heart), game show host, Broadway actor and he danced with Kym Johnson in the 2009 season of Dancing With the Stars.
Why on earth am I writing about Donny and Marie Osmond?
You’ve really got me there!
My best answer is that occasionally my brain makes mysterious connections. Stick with me?
I know Marie now represents Nutrisystem because, you know—she lost fifty pounds and commercials. Wikipedia tells me her brother Donny has struggled against his squeaky clean persona for his entire adult life. The synopsis goes so far as to call it an image struggle. Apparently he could never get cast as a bad boy. Being too good is very, very bad.
Anyhow, the Donny and Marie Show was quite popular right around the time I began reporting my age in double digits. My neighborhood friends and I used to recreate their show on Sarah’s front porch. The stairs were flanked by two raised cement slabs that gave each actress a stage to flaunt their country or rock n’ roll. Thank God we didn’t have cell phones with video cameras back then!
Here’s the thing — Donny and Marie grew beyond their teenage variety show. Like a bird, they molted their feathers. They matured and evolved.

I’ve started to molt.
After almost two years of writing this, that and the other, I’m using the process of elimination to live my way into my next step. I’m hoping to stop circling and to start moving forward.
Hmmmm — Have you ever heard that you should write what you like to read? I like to read concise, powerful, mind opening stories that have ties to history, psychology, philosophy, and sociology.
Does that mean I want to be a little more Malcolm Gladwell and a little less Erma Bombeck?
Possibly.
The challenge lies in building the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to sprout my new crop of feathers. This might get a little messy.
Will you stay tuned while I work on identifying my new station?
